As per our general practice, two (2) loans should not be granted to a member within a given month. However, discretion may be granted on a case-by-case basis with respect to the nature of the request.

Yes, loan requests from outside of the island can be made by completing a Loan’s Application Form via our Virtual Loan appointments which can be made by emailing us at virtualservices@geccu.com nThe process will be guided by a representative.

You are required to be a member of the credit union to access our loan service. Options avialble: nn- Walk-ins: Walk-ins are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. No appointment is required.nn- Appointments: A member can schedule a loan appointment for Tuesdays or Thursdays by contacting the Loans department at (784) 456-1963.nn- Virtual Appointments: A member can apply for a loan via our virtual loan appointments, which are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The member must first make a formal request by email to virtualservices@geccu.com.nn- Mobile App: A member would first have to be signed up for Online Banking to use this method. They would login to their mobile app or home banking and can make a Loan request. n

A member need to have the minium share requirement. Loans may be granted for the purpose of new, used or reconditioned vehicles. The following supporting documentation must be submitted by the member when applying for a loan to purchase a vehicle: nSourced locally:n- A sign and dated Sale agreement letter from seller(s)n- Vehicle registration documentn- Valuationn- Insurance quotation (must be comprehensive)nnBeing imported:n- Invoice from the Importer or CIF to Port Kingstown and Customs Chargen- Insurance quotationnN.B. Bill of sight would be needed upon the arrival of the vehicle.

– To book a virtual loan interview, the member is required to email their request to virtualservices@geccu.com

– A link would then be sent to the member to book their available day and time to do the interview. After choosing specified day and time and filling out the necessary information; the login credentials would be sent to member’s email.

– Member needs to ensure that they have the “ZOOM” platform downloaded.

– Camera and microphone need to be working. As member would need to have their camera on during the interview.

You are required to be a member for six (6) months with regular (monthly) payments to your regular shares. However, consideration would be given to new members with an established ability to service the loan, meet the eligibility requirements and if necessary adequate security or manageable exposure.

Yes, it is possible to have multiple loans with the institution. nnYou would have to discuss with a loans officer the details of the options available to you at this current time.

Our Minimum Loan criteria is as follows

1. Only members can qualify for loans.

2. Members must have the minimum share requirement.

That minimum share requirement would depend on the type/purpose of the loan

Generally, our Loans Officers would look at:

1. The applicant’s ability to repay the loan

2. The conditions for the loan that being there must be a clear purpose for the loans. Adequate information must be given.

3. A good repayment history is vital

4. If necessary additional security would have to be provided

Our interest rates range from 5% to 12% based on the loan product.
