Membership Requirements

To be eligible for membership, an applicant must be:

A Vincentian by birth, marriage, descent, naturalized citizen; or A Non-national from another CARICOM member state with valid residency status in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Applicants must be of sound mind.

You will need Identification and Proof of Address

Two valid forms of photo identification, one of which must be primary:

  • Driver’s License
  • Fisher’s ID
  • Farmer’s ID
  • Green Card
  • Health Card
  • Passport Card
  • VISA (with Photo)
  • Customs/ Police ID
  • Work Permit (with Photo)
  • Driver’s License
  • Hire Purchase Agreement
  • Property Tax Statement
  • Bank Statement (most recent)
  • Rental Agreement with utility bill
  • Utility Bill (electricity, water, internet or cable)
Utility Bill must be in the name of the applicant. If the bill is not in the name of the applicant, supporting evidence should be provided such as a rental agreement or a letter from the resident owner which must be witnessed by a Justice of Peace

Requirements for Opening Accounts

We are here to make your life easier! In order to prevent any delays in your application, have the following information ready when applying to become a member of GECCU:

  • Copy of the child’s birth certificate and/or a valid passport
  • Two (2) valid forms of photo Identification of the parent/guardian or person authorized to operate the account
  • Proof of address of the parent/guardian or person authorized to operate the account (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Employment letter or a recent salary slip of the parent/guardian or person authorized to operate the account
  • If a child is a citizen by descent:
    Copy of parent’s birth certificate and child’s birth certificate
  • Consent letter from parent or legal guardian granting the authorized person permission to operate the account. Letter must be certified by a Justice of Peace.
  • Parent or legal guardian may be a signatory to the account
  • A minimum of $20 is required to open a Junior Saver’s account
    NB: When the Junior Saver reaches the age of 16years, the amount in his/her Junior Saver Account will be transferred to a Shares Account.
  • Two (2) forms of Identification
    *If the applicant is between the ages of 16 & 17, a passport sized picture that has been stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace is required in case the child does not have a passport, student ID or any other form of identification.
  • Proof of Address (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank Statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    *If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Proof of income which can include an employment letter or recent salary slip
  • Marriage Certificate (If Applicable)
  • The amount required to be a full member is $220.00, however, a minimum deposit of $50.00 can get you started.
  • Two (2) valid forms of Identification
    *If the applicant is between the ages of 16 & 17, a passport sized picture that has been stamped and signed by a JP is required in case the child does not have a passport, student ID or any other form of identification.
  • Proof of Address (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank Statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    *If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Proof of income which can include an employment letter or recent salary slip
  • Valid Work Permit
  • Marriage Certificate (If Applicable)
  • Notarized and completed application form
  • Two (2) valid forms of Identification which must be in color and notarized.
  • Proof of Address (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank Statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    *If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Notarized employment letter or recent salary slip.
  • Copy of Marriage certificate (if applicable) which must be in color and signed and stamped by a Notary Public

  • Two (2) valid forms of Identification
  • Proof of Address (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank Statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    *If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Evidence of trading name (such as business registration, traders license, purchase order/invoice, business card, contract agreement, website address, price list, *bank statement)
  • Evidence of source of income (e.g. *bank statement, invoice, receipt)
    *bank statement, invoice, receipt) *Bank statements must show at least six (6) months activity.
  • Two (2) valid forms of Identification
  • Proof of Address (this can be a Drivers Licence, Bank Statement, Hire Purchase Agreement, Rental Agreement, Utility Bill)
    *If you do not have a utility bill in your name, the person whose name the bill is addressed to must write a letter stating that you reside at that address and have it stamped and signed by a Justice of Peace.
  • Evidence of source of income (e.g) remittance receipt, Western Union or Money Gram receipts (at least 2)
